Does the famous Chicago skyline look a little different?
In March 2007, Sydney, Australia made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming – coal-fired electricity – by turning off its lights for one hour. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city. This year over 1 billion people around the world will participate in Earth Hour. Established to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions, Earth Hour is about small changes that will collectively make a difference.
On Saturday March 29th at 8:30pm, millions of people across the world are switching off lights for one hour - to celebrate their commitment to the planet. To learn more about Earth Hour, please visit earthhour.org.
