Ode to Fairmont Orchid (in song)

My husband and I recently returned from our third visit to the Fairmont Orchid.  Shortly afterwards, the classic movie "The Sound of Music" aired on television. When the song, "My Favorite Things" was played, I decided to adapt the lyrics to reflect the memories we had of our trips to the Fairmont, and thought I would share them for others to chuckle about.

ODE TO THE FAIRMONT ORCHID

(Sung to the tune of "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music

Sipping fruit smoothies in clear plastic glasses

Views of the mountains without any ashes

Swimming long laps in the turquoise-blue pool

These are the things that make Fairmont so cool!

Waking to bird-songs and sounds of the ocean

Soothing our bodies with after-sun lotion

Dining on pupus with toes in the sand

These are the things that make Fairmont so grand!

At the Fairmont, Fairmont Orchid!

Life without a care

And when daily stresses are out of control

Then we want to be ---- back there!

Lounging for hours under our umbrellas

Marking the sunset with torch-bearing fellas

Jogging past palm trees that sway in the sun

These are the things that make Fairmont such fun!

Warm smiling staff with true Aloha spirit

Gentle waves lapping, so close you can hear it

Fragrant hibiscus from our patio

These are the reasons that we want to go!

Back to Fairmont! Fairmont Orchid!

Life without a care,

And when daily stresses are out of control

Then we want to be --- back there!

Golfing and snorkeling in great island weather

Long afternoons spent exploring together

Quick games of ping pong to start off the day

These are the reasons that we want to stay

Tradewinds and rainbows and sugar white beaches

Giant sea turtles that swim up to reach us

Paddling around in the shallow lagoon

These are the reasons that we'll be back soon!
