Catering Sales Manager at The Fairmont Copley Plaza Alice Fay knows a thing or two about hosting a flawless holiday party. Now, she's sharing her tips and tricks with our fans here on Everyone's An Original.

Set the Mood
Create an inviting, festive atmosphere using soft, appropriate background music and warm lighting.

Keep the Bar Simple
Of course keep the basics on hand – beer, wine, champagne, and sparkling water – but create one simple, signature cocktail. Change it up each year to keep guests guessing! If you're a novice mixologist, try searching for fun ideas on Pinterest.

When it Comes to the Food...
You don't want to spend the entire party slaving away in the kitchen! Choose dishes that can be served room temperature. Serving the food in small, individual dishes (tapas style) is also a great time saver. Create fun, festive labels for each item so you don't wind up reciting what it is to each guest over and over.

Think Clutter-Free
Use a strategically placed large basket (lined with a trash bag) to collect dirty dishes throughout the evening.

Double-Duty Desserts
A cookie buffet doubles as a fun dessert and take-home favor. Display along with little cellophane bags and ribbons or twine, so your guests can pick their favorites to bring home.

Most importantly, don't forget to enjoy yourself! It is a party, after all!
