On Victoria Day, May 24, 2010, the public was invited to join Food Network's Bob Blumer, (Sir Real) as he emceed The Fairmont Royal York's first annual Queen Victoria Look-A-Like Competition, in celebration of the 191st birthday of Queen Victoria. The competition was a success and we will be continuing to host the event in the years to come. The public competition and crowning ceremony took place in The Fairmont Royal York's Imperial Foyer and Library Bar.  The ladies in waiting were judged on the following domains: poise, skill, and knowledge. Celebrity judges included: Shinan Govani of The National Post; resident historian, Bruce Bell; Melanie Coates, Queen Beekeeper; Christopher Heard, notable and quotable resident author and Christopher Randall of New Classical 96.3 radio.


Her Highness, Elizabeth Fitzgerald was crowned the new Queen Victoria Gin out of seven ladies in waiting and received one night in The Prime Ministers Suite of The Fairmont Royal York, Breakfast in Bed, an Elizabeth Milan Spa Royal Rose Body Treatment, Dinner for Two in EPIC and a bottle of Victoria Gin.  All qualifying contest entrants received afternoon tea for two in The Library Bar and a bottle of Victoria Gin.
