Where Happily Ever After Begins...

Our trip to the Fairmont at Lake Louise was an adventure of a lifetime-literally.  It started as a surprise weekend getaway for my girlfriend and me.  I told her to pack warm clothes, but hinted at very little else.  Once we arrived in Calgary, we were whisked to Lake Louise via arranged transportation.  Soon after arrival at the Fairmont, we began our first surprise adventure-a guided dog sled ride across the Great Divide.  Warmly nestled under a blanket, we crossed the Continental Divide into British Columbia.  The peacefulness was most striking, only interrupted by the softly falling snow.

The following morning was surprise two-a three hour guided hike donning ice crampons through a frozen wonderland.  Trekking surefooted along a frozen stream, this most surreal sight was culminated by a large frozen waterfall.

That evening we took a romantic sleigh ride along Lake Louise.  As we exited the sleigh, my girlfriend noticed an ice sculpture along the lake's edge.  Throwing a quick glance, she commented her name was carved in the ice, but upon further scrutiny, she realized it read "Robyn, will you marry me?"

Luckily, she said yes and the rest is history.  We married later that year on the pitcher's mound of my old high school where I had first met her many years before.  A year later we were blessed with a wonderful daughter.  Our trip to the Fairmont at Lake Louise was truly the beginning of a lifetime!
