Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello - Began Life in 1930

CP's Le Chateau Montebello, situated on the North Shore of the Ottawa river about 45 miles east of Ottawa, began life in 1930 as private retreat for members of the exclusive Seigniory Club. The central 'Log Lodge', containing 186 guest rooms and the main public rooms, together with the adjacent staff residence and the automobile parking garage were assembled from more than 10,000 red cedar logs, the whole being furnished, equipped and brought into full operation in the remarkably short time of only four months. In 1971, the club's facilities came under CP management and were opened to the public as a year round resort and conference hotel.
