After a freshening up in a day room at the historic Norfolk in Nairobi, we were driven up to Mt. Kenya Safari Club.  Fairmont staff had helped us obtain our wedding license and transportion to Mt. Kenya Safari Club. They had also carefully planned our wedding including the photographer, wedding cake, and champagne.

The day of our wedding it rained in the morning, but the skies cleared just in time for the ceremony.  It was said to be a good omen.  My beautiful bride was escorted up to the bougainvillea decorated chapel by six Kikuyu dancers.  After the ceremony we were serenaded with a traditional wedding song and encouraged to participate in a dance (see photo).

After the ceremony, a rainbow spectacularly arked out from behind Mt. Kenya to presage good fortune (photos to prove it!).  That evening we were provided a special dinner menu with our wedding photos on the cover.  At dinner we indulged in a bottle of Dom Perignon to celebrate the start of our lives together.

The following day we celebrated New Years Eve with a buffet fit for royalty with two kinds of lobster, rock crayfish, shrimp, octopus, crawfish, and that was just a small fraction of the spread.  We crossed the equator from south to north at Midnight for a champagne toast.  Two days later we flew down to the Mara Safari Club for our spectacular honeymoon.
