The End of a Long Day

My wife and I stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler with our new son, Alex, on our way to a wedding on the Sunshine Coast. Whistler is a special place for us as I stayed in the athletes' village in Whistler while competing for Canada at the 2010 Olympics.

This photo, taken by my wife, shows me and Alex at the end of a long day of hiking and visiting the biathlon facilities in the Callaghan Valley. Our plans to go out for dinner that night were dashed when Alex decided he'd had enough and was not going anywhere else that day. We decided to order in and had the most amazing meal from room service. It was the best meal we had during our stay in Whistler. The staff member who delivered our dinner was incredibly understanding and sympathetic (she was the same kind staff member who had brought us cutlery the night before after we'd abandoned a dinner out when Alex decided he had other plans for the evening). Alex, seen sleeping peacefully in the left of the photo, was very impressed with not only the calibre of service at the Fairmont Whistler, but by the soft sheets in his crib as well!
