Red Sea Glass

Funny, tender and uncensored love stories are like red sea glass: something rare and worth treasuring.  My husband and I are incredibly blessed to be red sea glass.  A little worn and cracked, but a blessing to behold.

On our first date nearly 17 years ago, I was nervously talking and eating and promptly choked on a nacho.  In spite of all of my attractive hacking, I had to excuse myself to ladies' room.  After several minutes, Bruce wasn't sure what to do.  Remain at the table and he seems like an insensitive lout.  Go into the ladies' room and he seems like a creep.  Also running through his mind: Could I have dumped him and snuck out the back door?

While he is debating his options, I return to the table, laughing and smiling.  He looks incredibly relieved.  I think to myself, "This is a story we are going to tell our grandchildren someday."  And we happily drink a couple of margaritas.

Fast forward to today and we are packing our bags to celebrate Bruce's 50th birthday at the Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda.  Our 9 yr. old daughter will be staying home with her grandmother (thank you, Nana!) while we collect pink sand and swim with dolphins.

When we're on the beach, we will keep our eyes open for sea glass of all colors.  There's always room for more love.
