As part of our 45th Wedding Anniversary celebration, we decided to spend a couple of days at the Empress Hotel in Victoria in a harbour view room . .. bucket list item for me. We were treated like visting royal/foreign dignitaries. The Gold Floor staff were amazing and they provided so many extra special touches for us in honour of a milestone anniversary. Even though we arrived slightly before check-in we were invited to partake in the buffet breakfast. What a lovely respite after such an early flight.

After being taken to our lovely suite with a harbour view and a small fireplace . . . which was just amazing . .. we had time to freshen up before going to the Butchart Gardens. They thought of everything including slippers and epsom salts for your bath. The most delightful chocolate cup with dried fruits was waiting for us and then later in the day they brought in champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.

We were so pampered and no detail was too small for them to look after. Just amazing . . . 5 stars plus.

Of course we strolled around the grounds, along with my ever present camera. It is amazing the beauty there is even when the trees are bare. I love the lacey effect they exhibit against the skyline. It was especially lovely to have green grass as we left a whole lot of snow and a deep freeze in Edmonton.

Complimentary tea and cocktail hour are also available for your enjoyment. Only requirement is an honour system for any alchohol you partake of.

This celebration was one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. Thanks so much to the Gold Floor Staff at the Empress Hotel. It felt totally decadent to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and relax in the manner of a gentler time.
