Hawaii Paradise
Have you ever had a hotel experience where the highlight was the place you stayed, not the actual destination? That happened to us when we journeyed to the big island of Hawaii for my wife's birthday. Because I was a Platinum member of the President's Club, I had received a coupon for a suite upgrade. We took advantage of this and booked our stay at the Fairmont Orchid on the Kona coast of Hawaii.
When we arrived, we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the hotel and its surroundings. Everything you wanted in a vacation was there - great restaurants, a beach, a large swimming pool, and beautiful gardens to take a stroll. The hotel was also located near a golf course and provided a great place to take a run in the morning. Everywhere we went, we were warmly greeted by the hotel employees.
The highlight of our trip was the celebration of my wife's birthday. We had a reservation at Brown's Beach House at sunset. They knew it was my wife's birthday, so they seated us at a prime spot to view the sunset. That's where I took the picture that I submitted. We had a wonderful delicious meal, followed by a surprise birthday cake for my wife. She was so surprised and pleased. What a night!!
We did eventually tour the big island, but we preferred to stay within the grounds of the Orchid. We'll be back!!!
