Celebrating my birthday Fairmont Southampton Style
It was a mere 50 years ago that I celebrated my 15th birthday in Bermuda. I was living on Bermuda with my family and we celebrated at the Carlton Beach Hotel (the original name of the property). On my 45th birthday, 30 years later, my husband surprised me with a trip back to Bermuda to commemorate that special day in my life staying at the same hotel (under another name). That May in 1993, I promised myself that I would spend my 65th birthday again in Bermuda.
This May, I returned to the Fairmont Southampton Resort with my new love. This was my most fantastic birthday ever. We enjoyed golf on the famed Turtle Hill Golf Course, dined at the Waterlot Inn Restaurant on the evening of my birthday, and even lounged by the pool and on the beach. When we returned to our deluxe suite after dinner, champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries awaited us. We had never been treated in such a royal manner.
This photograph was taken on the day after my birthday when we enjoyed an incredible round of golf.
We hated leaving Bermuda after this magnificent vacation, and we both can truthfully say "we left our heart in Bermuda" but made yet another promise to return sooner than 20 years.
