A Weekend of Highs in Montreal

We chose the renowned Fairmont Queen Elizabeth for our escapade to Montreal.  Our weekend of highs kicked off at the largest hot air balloon festival in Canada, International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu. We marveled at the spectacle created by a clear sky full of hot air balloons at dawn.  Balloonists from all over the world filled the skies with their vivid, beautiful colours.  It was magnificent.
Back to the Queen Elizabeth where we enjoyed a scrumptious hot breakfast on the gold floor.  The service was attentive and friendly.  We fueled up for an afternoon of shopping on nearby Rue Sainte Catherine.
Dinner was at the Fairmont’s own highly acclaimed restaurant, the Beaver Club.  It was truly one of the best meals we have ever had.  It is not to be missed if you enjoy fine dining and exceptional service.  I recommend the prime rib!!!!
Following dinner the Montreal International Fireworks Competition, a rare and special treat, entertained us.  In the clear Montreal evening the entrant, South Africa, lit up the skyline with a fiery display of lavish colour and artistry.  Outstanding!
I will remember this weekend for years to come.
