A Fairmont Wedding at The Fairmont Banff Springs

“The stunning scenery and location sealed the deal!”

Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?

The Fairmont Banff Springs has always been one of our favourite weekend getaways from Calgary. The stunning scenery and location sealed the deal!

Where did you have your ceremony?

We were married on the terrace at the Banff Springs Hotel. It was one of the nicest days of the summer and the view was spectacular. We kept the ceremony short - for the boys in their suit jackets!

Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?

I found a picture of something I liked in a magazine and took it to my florest. They were mostly white with some green, smelled amazing and looked perfect! The centrepieces were white orchids - my favourite flower.

Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?

The Hotel served an amazing four course dinner and we added an ice globe complete with champagne sorbet as a palate cleanser - huge hit with our guests! Brad and I are not fans of wedding cake so we elected to forego that tradition. Instead we served our guests two of our favourite desserts - tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding.

What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely ‘yours’?

Brad and I enjoy a good party and we wanted to make sure our wedding was just that. For our grand entrance into the reception we chose the song Shots by LMFAO and came in with the team from the Hotel carrying delicious apple pie shooters for all of our guests. We toasted the room, threw back our drinks and got the party started! Some of our guests still comment that it was the most memorable entrance they have ever seen.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Tell us about it.

We went to California. Our first stop was the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa for a few days of relaxation. Sonoma was perfect. It was beautiful, quiet, hot and sunny, with lots to do (wine tours included!) - exactly what we needed to unwind after the wedding. We even secured a sitting at The French Laundry, where Mr. Keller did not disappoint (of course). We then headed off to San Francisco where we took in a Giants game, walked a lot of hills and ate at a lot of fabulous restaurants! With the wedding behind me I did not have to worry anymore about that dress zipper going up!

Now that you are married and have had time to reflect on your wedding day, what was your favorite moment?

The wedding day was really busy with many people to thank and visit with and a lot of activities going on. My favourite moment of the whole experience was after the day was over and Brad and I were sitting by the pool at the Fairmont Sonoma. There was no more stress, no more planning, just the two newlyweds sipping champagne in the sunshine!.
