Fairmont Empress

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in the Pacific Northwest have teamed up with the Breakfast Club of Canada to provide a donation of $5 from every Bed & Breakfast room night sold from October 9 to December 31, 2015.

Breakfast should be the most nutritious meal of the day to stimulate our bodies and mental wellness. Breakfast is brain food. A balanced breakfast improves a child’s academic performance, behavior and concentration, showing lowered incidents of bullying, and supporting overall social well being and interest in school.

Shockingly, 1 in 7 Canadian children are at risk of not receiving a nutritious breakfast to start their day. 1.15 million children are at risk of going hungry before school and that equates to 23,960 buses full of children how have not started the day with a balanced breakfast. By the time children are 15, a quarter of Canadian youth will go to school without breakfast. Poor nutrition increases health risks including a higher incidence diabetes and heart disease along with poor mental health wellness.

Through generous donations and fundraising, the Breakfast Club of Canada contributes close to $15M to support nutritious breakfasts for Canadian children annually. Currently in Western Canada, 311 breakfast clubs feed 29,175 children and serve 4,350,023 nutritious breakfasts. For each $5 donation a child can be fed breakfast for a week.

Rise and shine with Fairmont and your Bed & Breakfast getaway will not only start your day right but it will help to support healthy futures for children in our community. Even more reason to #wakeupwithfairmont.
