Organic Cascade Peppermint (Caffeine Free Organic Herb Tea)

Cup Characteristics: A cool, pungent and lively taste. The climate In the Cascade Mountains provides perfect growing conditions.
Ingredients (Loose Tea): Luxury organic peppermint.

Tea Story:
The best peppermint is grown in the verdant valleys of the Cascade Mountains of the northwestern United States. The pure, moist mountain air of the spring and early summer growing season gives this peppermint some of the highest volatile oil counts of any member of the mint family. Generally (dependent upon weather patterns) the second cut (takes place during mid/end August) is the most flavorful, coolest tasting and most pungent, (literally takes your breath away and makes your eyes water).

Peppermint is an herb and contains no caffeine. Quite often peppermint is consumed after meals as the oils stimulate the flow of bile to the stomach and helps relieve gas pains. Additionally, it has been reported and written that peppermint sweetens the breath and calms the digestive system, plus it helps heartburn, stomachache and nausea. An interesting and tingling way to use peppermint is to place a handful of peppermint leaves in your bath water which will lower your body temperature - perfect for cooling fevered skin or after working on a hot summer's day.

How is organic tea grown?
Operating an organic tea garden or herbal farm is a multi-stepped process.  In all cases, organic tea farms adhere to the following:
• Abstinence from using any synthetic fertilizer or pesticide
• Protection of the environmental integrity of lands surrounding the gardens
• Minimize pollution and optimize biological productivity
• Replenishment and maintenance of garden soil fertility.
• Promotion and maintenance of biodiversity in and around the tea gardens.  (This includes working to protect natural wildlife habitats.)

To make the perfect cup of Fairmont Tea:  Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Use 1 teaspoon of Cascade Peppermint luxury loose tea or 1 tea bag of Cascade Peppermint luxury tea for each 10 ounce/300 ml serving required. Pour boiling water into teapot. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes to desired strength - the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea. It is recommended that Cascade Peppermint be consumed without milk or sugar.

To make the perfect cup of Fairmont Iced Tea:  (to make 1 liter/quart):  Place 6 teaspoons of Cascade Peppermint luxury loose tea or 6-8 tea bags of Cascade Peppermint luxury tea into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Strain the tea into the pitcher. Add ice and top-up with cold water. Garnish. It is not customary to sweeten this tea. [A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to double the strength of the hot brew since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water.]
