With the impending nuptuals of Prince Harry and Megan Markle, all things royal are reaching a fever pitch. Did you know that Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has a very royal history of it's own?

This is the third hotel to be named 'Hotel Vancouver'. Though its name and heritage date back to 1888, the present Hotel Vancouver first opened its doors in 1939, on the eve of the Royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The royal couple were among the first guests and ceremoniously opened the landmark hotel. They stayed in suites on the 14th floor. This spring, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver recently unveiled beautifully restored 14th Floor Heritage Suites.

The hotel has been a landmark in the city ever since and has hosted many significant events. Shortly after opening the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation started broadcasting from the hotel's 17th floor, its home until 1975. The beloved Dal Richards' Orchestra performed from the legendary Panorama Ballroom, know today as The Roof.

A registered heritage property operating since 1939, the hotel symbolizes grandeur and timeless elegance with service and hospitality. If the royal wedding has you wanting to dust off your fascinator, join us for the Great British Tea Party! From April 2nd to September 3rd, Notch8's Private Dining Room has undergone a cheeky British makeover delivering a playful twist on traditional afternoon tea.
