The Warm Mantra

Stormchaser George Kourounis explores some of the most extreme places on Earth to capture nature’s worst weather conditions on film. When he scaled Mount Washington in the dead of winter, the Snow Mantra parka by Canada Goose was key to helping him successfully snap photos of the summit.

“I was only able to stay outside for extended periods of time when I was decked out in my Snow Mantra parka. If I stayed still for even a minute, rime ice would start to form on my coat, my ice axe – even my eyelashes!”

The coat that helped Kourounis survive the treacherous climb is billed as the warmest jacket on the planet. It owes that reputation to quality materials and an innovative design that insulates against frigid air.

Packed with goose down fill, the Snow Mantra features a throatlatch, chin guard and pockets lined with fleece for added warmth, along with an extra layer of down-proof nylon lining to prevent feathers from escaping and an elasticized nylon snow skirt. A Velcro-secured storm flap further blocks the cold air from penetrating the heavy-duty locking zipper. Coyote fur trim around the tunnel hood, featuring adjustable bracing wire, provides protection in high-wind conditions. The thigh-length cut also shields against the wind and a drawstring waist keeps out the chill.

While this jacket is well suited to the arctic adventurer’s lifestyle (it even includes shoulder straps for lifting the wearer out of an emergency situation and reflective tape across the back), the Snow Mantra is just as at home in the urban environment, where its rugged good looks make it the ultimate cold-weather accessory.

From now until April 30, sign up for the Winter Romance Package at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise or The Fairmont Banff Springs and receive two Canada Goose jackets during your stay. For more information, click here.
