10 Can’t Miss Highlights at The Plaza Hotel

You can do a lot in a New York minute, but only at The Plaza does time seem to slow down and slowly inch backward into a more elegant era.  Located near New York’s top attractions and situated in one of the most iconic neighborhoods, The Plaza Hotel has been a mainstay for writers, artists, and the world’s most affluent since 1907.

Now, it’s a frequent sight for high-end fashion photo shoots and chic champagne tastings. Whether you’re craving a wine-themed spa treatment or a day out on the town, The Plaza Hotel will be sure to knock your socks off.

Become Eloise for the day
Not just for the adults, one of the most famous occupants of The Plaza had a flair for the dramatic — with a dash of pink. Featuring special teas, costume parties, and even Eloise-themed cooking and ballet classes, rest assured your little girl will learn the Eloise strut in no time at all thanks to The Plaza staff. To really wow the girls, be sure to ask the front desk where Eloise is. The staff will say they aren’t sure, but will ask you to pass along that Eloise’s shoes are waiting for her, and then present a pair of her fancy shoes for proof!

Horse rides in Central Park
If you’re going out exploring into Central Park, set out in the late evening, then find a horse-drawn carriage to take you around the outskirts of the park just as the streetlights turn on. The twinkling lights from the city reflecting on a calm Central Park is the closest you’ll get to feeling like you’re living in “Old New York” era.

Spend the day exploring Central Park

Wind (Wine) down at the spa
It may be one of the busiest cities in the world, but in the Caudalie Vinothérapie® Spa you’ll find nothing but peace, quiet, and a little bit of wine. For the full experience, opt in on the Full Harvest Ritual. The 265-minute package includes a Grape Marc Barrel Bath, a honey and wine wrap, a massage, and your very own cheese plate and glass of wine.

Exploring the Upper Eastside
It’s easy to feel like royalty when your backyard is Central Park and the best of New York City is just outside the front doors of the hotel.  Once home to real life American royalty like the Rockefellers and the Carnegies, the area between 59th and 96th street is now where some of the most prominent modern-day celebs and business moguls roam.

Ordering breakfast in bed
Scrumptious doesn’t even begin to cover the culinary delights at The Plaza Hotel. For breakfast in bed, branch out of your comfort zone and opt in for a classic breakfast dish like bacon and eggs with The Plaza spin. No judgment here if you decide to spend the day in bed (they do lunch and dinner orders straight to your room too).

Enjoy the suite life at The Plaza

Skating at Rockefeller Center
It’s a holiday tradition that is just within arm’s reach of The Plaza Hotel. While a lot of tourists will wait until late in the day to check out The Rink, you can skip the crowds altogether and even be the first on the ice by booking a First Skate time slot at 7 am. Hey, they say the early bird gets the worm for a reason.

Live the “Suite Life”
They say the grass is always greener on the other side, and, just in case that is true, you can ask about a little thing called “suite hopping.” The staff will be happy to help plan out a luxury stay at a private suite for a concert or a sport event. All you have to do is ask.

It's all in the details at The Plaza Hotel

Spend the day with a good book
Meander your way down the street to the New York Public Library, where you can select a good book from a collection boasting more than 50 million. After you’ve made your selection and set up your account, make your way back to the hotel for Afternoon Tea.

Shop until you drop
It’s both a blessing and a curse that The Plaza is situated within walking distance of some of the stylish shops in the world. Don’t worry about those heavy bags from Harry Winston and Saks weighing you down either. You can drop them off with one of The Plaza butlers and they’ll be sure to have them waiting for you back in the room when you return.

Have a “just because” visit
You don’t have to be a guest to enjoy dinner, tea, or drinks at The Plaza. The Palm Court is the perfect spot to enjoy an evening cocktail or two.  Make a reservation to treat yourself to your very own “just because” day. Both Eloise and Jay Gatsby would approve.
