Aida is the bright and cheery morning hostess at Pyramid Restaurant. She was prominently featured in the D CEO Business Lunch review here and is the focus of this colleague spotlight.
Aida took the time from her busy schedule of friendly greetings and even waitressing duties (she's a jack of all trades) to answer a few questions about herself.
- Name and title: Aida Kapetanovic-Pyramid Supervisor
- Where are you from? Former Yugoslavia
- How long have you worked at The Fairmont Dallas? 12 years
- What is the biggest surprise you’ve had working at Pyramid? Friendliness and kindness of many guests and colleagues.
- Tell me the story of your most memorable guest at Pyramid? Definitely, Mr. Chuck Bedsole (at that time held a high position in Ernst & Young, later CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers and now Director of Alvarez and Marsal) I met him in 1998 or 1999. He brought a few guests for the lunch buffet and was very disappointed and upset. He told me that buffet was almost empty and what was left was old and terrible. The server did not pay attention and he and his guests did not feel welcome. He traveled all over the world and this was not a good experience. For Fairmont, he had higher standards. After my apology and fixing the buffet in matter of minutes, I asked him to give us another chance. And he did. He became one of our most frequent patrons (in old Pyramid his table was always # 32, now # 25 most of the time). He wrote a wonderful letter about us to the former CEO of the Fairmont, Mr. Chris Cahill (I might still have it). Every Friday he would join us with his friends and business partners for lunch (because of his recommendations, some of them stayed in Fairmont). Although, his main office is not that close anymore and he is extremely busy, he still visits us a couple times in a month. He is not only my favorite, but I believe many other colleagues from the morning shift as well.
- Where is the farthest place you have traveled to? From USA-Istanbul, from my country-Tunisia.
- What has been your favorite dish at Pyramid? Veggie Pizza
- What are your hobbies? Definitely sports, basketball is my favorite (played for 25 and some years), movies and shopping of course.
- What one word would you use to describe yourself? Persistent
- What person, dead or alive, would you like to dine with at Pyramid and what would you order? President Obama and since he likes hamburgers that would be my order.
