A Magical Boston Wedding

“A Magical Night Complete with Everything and Everyone We Love”

Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?

I've worked for Fairmont for almost 4 years, and couldn't imagine trusting our wedding with a better group of people - or having it in a more beautiful or special place.

Where did you have your ceremony?

The Oval Room in the hotel

Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?

We went with a mix between rustic and romantic - which was a perfect match to what our overall style was. We married the rustic feel with the grandious beauty of the Grand Ballroom.

Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?

We did a plated amuse bouche and salad course followed by stations. Dessert was a station as well, with a mix of our favorites.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Tell us about it.

Bermuda. I had only been once before and my husband had never been. It's so close to Boston and yet feels like it's a world away. Our trip was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure, and was the greatest end to such an amazing wedding experience.

What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely 'yours'?

Each station had a "his and hers" theme to it. We both like variety in our food, and the option to have a little bit of all sorts of flavors - and being able to choose all of our stations and elements was very important to us and made the night feel like it was about us.

Another integral part of the day is the wedding dress! Tell us about what you chose to wear. Did you follow the old English saying "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue"?

I wore a two-piece lace dress with a sweetheart neckline and an open back. I also wore studded, bright blue open-toe heels for my "something blue".

What was the first song you danced to as newlyweds?

"Let My Love Open the Door" by Luminate (a cover of the original Pete Townsend song)

Now that you are married and have had time to reflect on your wedding day, what was your favorite moment?

Being surrounded by all of our best family and friends. The two moments I remember most are the doors opening on our ceremony for me to walk in, and the speeches our family members gave at the reception. They were so funny and touching and I loved hearing them and seeing everyone respond to them.
