Alexandra & Jared's Wedding at The Fairmont Copley Plaza

“Married in a location that epitomized the history and grandeur of Boston...

Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?

Growing up in the area, it was important for us to get married in a location that epitomized the history and grandeur of Boston. Between the elegance and beauty of the grand ballroom and the unparalleled service, it became immediately clear to us that the Fairmont was the only place for us to have our perfect day.

Where did you have your ceremony? Did you incorporate any special or cultural traditions?

We had our ceremony in the magnificent Oval Room. Having a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony was incredibly important to us, and the Fairmont staff accommodated all of our needs and fulfilled all of our special requests. They worked very closely with our florist to fulfill our special request of getting married under Jared’s father’s tallis. Throughout the process, the staff showed the same attention to detail and dedication to the ceremony as the reception itself.

Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?

I chose a mix of traditional flowers; including roses, orchids, and hydrangeas in both ivory and blush to match the glamorous feel of the Grand Ballroom. Texture was very important to me, as I wanted the flowers to be both striking, as well as soft and romantic.

Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?

Each of our guests started their evenings with a salad of arugula, frisee with grilled pears and goat cheese (our favorite!). The evening continued with an intermezzo of lemon sorbet served in a sugar-rimmed martini glass—the presentation was as outstanding as the course itself! For the entrée course, our guests had their pre-selected choice of Atlantic salmon, beef tenderloin, or vegetarian risotto. For dessert, our guests enjoyed wedding cake accompanied by delicious tuxedo chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert! Our wedding cake alternated layers of decadent red velvet and fluffy white cake. We also had a surprise late night snack of freshly baked cookies and milk shooters!

What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely ‘yours’?

We wanted to make sure that the wedding reflected our fun side, so we decided to put a few personal touches on the evening. During our cocktail hour, we had a fully stocked French fry bar for our guests to enjoy (Heinz ketchup only, of course!) Instead of having a traditional guest book, we used two Polaroid cameras for people to take selfies and put them in an album for us with their well wishes. We made sure to send our guests home with breakfast for the next morning after they had partied all night- mini-bagel bites filled with various flavors of cream cheese.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Tell us about it.

We traveled to Maui on our honeymoon and stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani. The Fairmont staff continued to take care of us, delivering a beautiful display of chocolate covered strawberries, mini desserts and a bottle of champagne to our room the night we arrived. T he staff also assisted us in setting up tons of great activities, including a snorkeling cruise, traditional luau, traversing the road to Hana, making dinner reservations around the island, and taking some surfing lessons. While coming home from paradise was really hard, our experience could not have been better. Between the beaches, great restaurants, and daily adventures, we had the time of our lives and cannot wait to go back!
