Furry Friends Offered Full Menus at Fairmont

Four-legged friends can make great travel companions, which is why many Fairmonts welcome a wide range of Fidos and Fluffys every month. While amenities vary from hotel to hotel, offerings for furry guests range from local walking maps to handy items like water bowls and doggie beds. However, many properties up the ante with specially-made treats and menus that will have pets barking for more.
Many Fairmont hotels take doggie dining seriously, with full in-room dining menus for pets. The Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers three courses for hungry pooches, who can dine on Egg and Gizzard Pudding for breakfast, Baked Grits and Cheese for lunch and Lamb and Rice Stew for dinner. Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in California partners with Healthy Spot of Santa Monica to offer a full menu of dog-friendly delights, from V-Dog vegetarian dog food and hormone-free, ranch-raised New Zealand Venison, to Organic Frozen Yogurt and Hand Made Artisan Truffles. The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle has launched its own menus for four-legged guests, including house made biscuits and an option for tenderloin steak. At nearby Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, the in-room dining menu offers mouthwatering treats such as Organic Venison, and Cranberry Pepperoni, Organic Beef Granola Bars and Turkey & Spinach Paw-Stickers.
The Fairmont San Francisco has introduced a fully-stocked doggie mini bar to cater to the needs of its most discerning four-legged guests. The landmark hotel has teamed up with San Francisco's Cheengoo Boutique to offer a variety of snacks for purchase such as Cable Car Decorated Cookies and Organic Peanut Brittle Cookies, as well as designer pet products including a Lint Roller, Potty Pad, Rope Toy, and Cheengoo Aromatic Candle and Spritzer, among other goodies.
In the Canadian Rockies, local bakeries are adept at providing tasty treats for traveling canines. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and The Fairmont Banff Springs offer homemade dog treats from the local Mut Hut specialty store. In Victoria, British Columbia, The Fairmont Empress offers Beef Barley Canine Courtesy Cookies to its doggy guests, hand-made by its partner bakery, The Scruffy Dog Barkery. Across the continent in Boston, Fairmont Copley Plaza works with the Polkadog Bakery to provide biscuits and treats for their visiting pets, and can even arrange to have an entire cake made for special occasions.
It's not uncommon for the hotel's pastry chef to get involved in the doggie dining world. At Fairmont Washington, D.C. the hotel's Executive Pastry Chef Rebecca Kinsella hand makes Peanut Butter Doggie Biscuits, while at Fairmont Pittsburgh homemade dog treats are prepared by Executive Pastry Chef James Wroblewski.
Of course, discerning felines haven't been left out of the gourmet pet trend. Aside from the Dog Days menu featuring a Pumpkin and Apple Fruitables treat and Tripett – all natural tripe stew, Fairmont Pacific Rim has a Feline Fun menu filled with choices like California Natural – a delicious blend of fresh salmon, mackerel, and sweet potato; and Taste of the Wild – the Rocky Mountain Feline Formula in Gravy. Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa has a Furry Friend menu for pets featuring chicken, homemade biscuits, a burger and a purr-fect bowl of milk for kitty.
Many Fairmont hotels offer commercial pet food for purchase, and all hotels that accept pets can point guests toward local pet stores in addition to veterinary, grooming, boarding services and more.
