The Perfect Day: Beth's Bermuda Wedding

My husband and I had visited Bermuda when we first started dating and as soon as we were engaged we knew it would be the perfect place for our wedding, as the location is easily accessible to accommodate family and friends spread out along the east coast.  We visited a year before we were planning to get married and went to every hotel, church, and possible wedding location that we could come up with.  In the end, we loved the Fairmont Southampton Ocean Club for the gorgeous location overlooking the beach and ocean and the option of an indoor dinner if weather required.  On that visit to Bermuda we met with several lovely employees for guest services at the Fairmont but did not get to meet our wedding specialist, Wendy Rukstalis, until we actually arrived a few days before our wedding.

At that point I felt like we were already friends and could not have asked for more in a wedding coordinator.  All of the phone calls and emails throughout the previous eight months had paid off in what turned out to be an amazing day.  We did not have a chance to return to Bermuda during the planning of the wedding and Wendy reassured us that everything would be fine and we could make all of the decisions by phone or email, from planning the menu to selecting flowers...and even the cake!  We didn’t even taste the cake until the wedding day and it was exactly what we wanted.  On the days leading up to the wedding there was rain in the forecast, so even though I was a little disappointed I knew we had the option to move the reception indoors.

The staff at the Fairmont was very accommodating and let us make the decision the day of the wedding and we woke up that morning to beautiful sunny 70 degree day and were able to hold everything on the outdoor patio at the Ocean Club!  The beach provided the perfect location for our post ceremony photos with the wedding party and as we watched the sunset during our first dance (ironically to “the perfect day”), it was exactly that.
