A Modern, Chic Bermuda Wedding

“Bermuda Modern Chic OceanFront Wedding ”

Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?

Justin's parents went on the honeymoon at this Fairmont Resort years ago. Fast forward, Justin then proposed to me at this Fairmont. In planning our wedding with GLDN events we seemed to realize that both of us wanted more than a one night celebration. So we decided to bring everyone to a place we love and adore so much, Fairmont Southampton.

Where did you have your ceremony?

We had our ceremony on the terrace over looking the beach at Fairmont. I, Jenny, wanted a beach wedding but did not want to be in the sand. GLDN Events helped us to incorporate all of the traditional/cultural traditions, however we used most of them at our rehearsal dinner to get everyone in the Bermudian Island state of mind. We had Gombey dancers join us on the beach for a traditional Bermudian Fish Fry.

Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?

GLDN events helped us to work with Petals Bermuda by incorporating natural elements of the surrounding and plants that are native to Bermuda. This not only helped us stay in budget but this helped us to keep the modern clean feeling I wanted from the beginning.

Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?

Passed food during the cocktail hour - where the chefs helped us to include food we loved from home.

For the reception we did not want to interrupt the dancing so we had what I like to call action stations for our guests. Food basically flowed all night long. We had a raw bar, wok with Asian noodles & there was fresh fish with salad.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Tell us about it.

We stayed for the rest of the week at the Fairmont because we love it so much!

What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely 'yours'?

The table design - GLDN events did an amazing job

- mirrored escort cards
- hand made bud vases
- hand painted menus
- mirrored table tops
- love knot napkin fold
- the abundance of candles

Another integral part of the day is the wedding dress! Tell us about what you chose to wear. Did you follow the old English saying "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue"?

- Pronovias made my wedding dress
- I borrowed my maid of honors wedding veil from Carolina Herrera
- My something blue was the sapphire Justin gave me as my engagement ring - but them my parents surprised me at the rehearsal dinner with a diamond and sapphire bracelet of my mother's I had admired since I was a very little girl
- Something new was my most fabulous Christian Louboutin shoes that were silver sparkly like the sand
- something old was Justin's mom handkerchief made out of the lace from his bonnet from his christening

What was the first song you danced to as newlyweds?

Sade - By Your Side

Now that you are married and have had time to reflect on your wedding day, what was your favorite moment?

There was not one bad part. Watching everyone arrive and knowing they got there safely was great. But just dancing the night away under the stars was pretty awesome.

What made you decide to have a destination wedding?

It was where we got engaged and we wanted to have a whole weekend with everyone.

How did you plan your day from afar?

I would not have been able to plan my day without GLDN Events working very closely with Claire Anne Raynore from the Fairmont.

Tell us about what it is like traveling with your dress!

GLDN Events handled everything for me. I did not even think about it - I am not even sure how my dress got there come to think about it.

Do you have any advice for brides planning on having a destination wedding?

Hire Meredith Falk from GLDN Events - she is amazing and the Fairmont worked so well with her!
