TIARRA EDMUNDSON, a local Vancouver artist, is formally-trained at Emily Carr University of Art & Design. With a Fine Arts Bachelor’s Degree and Computer Science Diploma, Edmundson has a unique perspective into the art world.

Specializing in acrylic and oil paintings on canvas, her works can be recognized by their whimsical appearance and representation of unique mathematic axioms of subject matter such as population, GPS coordinates, dates, or GDP.

Displayed here at the hotel, Edmundson’s latest work, True North, is comprised of four abstract paintings that have been inspired by abacus computations. Paintings No.1 and No.2 depict the geographical coordinates of Vancouver, (123 degrees West by 49 degrees North). Painting No.3 represents the year in which the installation was created (2015), while painting No.4 represents the annual number of landings and takeoffs at Vancouver International Airport (312, 228).
