The Bob Hope Suite 330

Suite 330 is one of The Fairmont Empress' most popular suites as it was a favourite of legendary actor and performer, Bob Hope when he visited Victoria. 

Mr. Hope choose this suite not only for its harbour front water view of Victoria, but for its carpet. Mr. Hope was an avid golfer and he used to practice his putt in this room. He felt as if the carpet resembled turf that was the perfect length for his golf practice in the corridors!

Mr. Hope would practice his golf swing into a shot glass. Sometimes he would crack the shot glass; however it was no problem for his adoring fans in Housekeeping who replaced with pleasure. They found such joy over watching Mr. Hope practice his swing in the comfort of his favourite Victoria hotel, enjoying his stay at The Fairmont Empress.

Some of the original staff who personally took care of Bob Hope up until 1989 are still employed at the hotel today. They recant many stories however remembers distinctly Mr. Hope requesting his favourite ice cream produced by Victoria's local supplier, Island Farms.

Today the 330 suite is still available for rent today and is part of a Two Bedroom Harbour View Suite. The 330 suite displays a photograph of Mr. Bob Hope. While the carpet has been replaced it still showcases the beautiful waterfront view that Mr. Hope enjoyed when he was a guest.
