Our recent two night stay at the Chateau Lake Louise where we celebrated our wedding anniversary, was a wonderful winter experience.

We arrived just after a heavy snowfall and the trees and mountains were sparkling in the sunshine creating a winter wonderland. At the Chateau, nestled in the mountains and in complete harmony with its fairy tale surroundings, we were welcomed in a friendly fashion and pleasantly surprised on check with the news that we had been chosen as President members of the day and would receive free valet parking, a room upgrade and complimentary drinks and snacks.

Our room had an unparalleled view of the glacier and lake and was the perfect place to view the sunrises and sunsets on the surrounding terrain. Complimentary champagne and snacks were provided in the room. Ms Quinn gave us a guided tour of the hotels facilities and gracefully arranged restaurant reservations in the Lake View and Walliser Stube. We particularly enjoyed eggs benedict with smoked salmon on crab cakes as part of breakfast. The beef and bison fondue accompanied by a German Riesling and a surprise complimentary chocolate fondue completed our special evening. The next evening we decided to return to the Walliiser Stube to sample their cheese fondue and schnitzel entre which were both artfully presented by gracious servers.

Although we were a few days too early for the famed sleigh rides we were able to walk along well groomed trails along the lake and see the area in warm sunshine as the weather was not too cold. Instead of seeing canoes on the lake it was novel to see adventurous people walking down the middle of the lake. Ms Quinn also took us to a quiet nook with a splendid view of the lake where we could enjoy playing a game of Scrabble.

For my wife, an avid amateur photographer, our stay at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was filed with amazing photo ops. All in all, a special experience for us.
