A Winter Wonderland Engagement

As a surprise for Valentine's Day Kyle had planned for a trip for the upcoming weekend to Lake Louise followed by dinner at one of the Chateau Lake Louise restaurants overlooking the lake.  The plan was to skate and hike followed by a delicious gourmet dinner.  After skating, we ambitiously decided to venture across the lake sans skis or snow shoes.  The snow was quite deep, however the sun was attempting to peak out from behind the clouds.  At some point in the middle of the lake, Kyle told me he had another surprise.  I barely had time to respond when he dropped to his knees in a puff of snow and asked me to marry him.  I of course said YES!  After the relief of receiving his answer, we climbed up the frozen waterfall and sat together discussing our future.  We headed back to the Chateau and the surprises didn't stop there.  Our room was adorned with rose petals all over the floor and bed, champagne on ice and chocolate covered strawberries!  Kyle had gone all out with the help of the Fairmont staff to make this weekend forever memorable.  Together we toasted our engagement and continued our romantic weekend with an amazing 3-course meal with wine pairings at the Fairview Restaurant.  We will always cherish our weekend up at Lake Louise especially as it was the day we officially began our lives together.
