Our Banff Engagement

In September 2008, I surprised my girlfriend with a trip to the Fairmont Banff Springs to celebrate her birthday.  I had planned a long, romantic weekend with a long visit to the remarkable Willow Stream Spa, feasts at several of the hotel's amazing restaurants including the Bow Valley Grille and the Waldhaus, and day trips to enjoy the breathtaking Canadian scenery.  On one special day, we visit Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and Peyto Lake.  Standing among the forests surrounding Peyto Lake, I asked my girlfriend to take a picture.  I set the timer, framed the picture as best I could, and crossed my fingers.  Rather than stand next to her for the photograph, I dropped to one knee and asked her to be my wife!  This picture captured the proposal in action.  Thankfully, I received an enthusiastic "YES!"  That night we celebrated back at the Banff Springs over a romantic dinner.  Thirteen months later, we got married and we traveled to another Fairmont hotel for our honeymoon, this time to the Kea Lani in Maui.  We celebrated our second wedding anniversary this past October in Banff!
