A Dream Wedding

“A Dream Wedding”

Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?

We love the Fairmont Pacific Rim, it sets the perfect ambience for romance. We love the Willow Stream Spa, the rooms, the lobby lounge - especially the local band “Koko Soul” that plays there – we ended up hiring them to play at our cocktail hour. It’s one of our favorite date night staycation spots.

Where did you have your ceremony?

We had the best of both worlds - a traditional Indian wedding held at the Vedic Cultural Society in Richmond BC, as well as several other cultural festivities including a henna ceremony that led up to the big day and a grand reception at the Fairmont Pacific Rim.

Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?

We incorporated a winter wonderland theme to our wedding, which included blue and white flowers along with white frosted tree branches for a more magical feel.

Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?

We had a buffet including steak and fish with a vegetarian lasagna option, along with a carving station, cold seafood bar, cheese and meat station and a to-die-for dessert bar. Our guests raved that the roast beef was the best they ever had. To top it off,we had a red velvet five tier cake made by Fairmont from designs we gave them.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Tell us about it.

We went to Bora Bora, in the French Polynesian Islands for our honeymoon. This was a dream honeymoon destination for me. We were literally in paradise in an overwater bungalow that had a glass floor where we could look at the fish below. We both can’t wait to go back.

What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely 'yours'?

We made our grand entrance to Rihanna’s “We Found Love” with the lyrics starting off with “Yellow Diamonds in the light”. My engagement ring is a yellow diamond, my favorite song and color of diamond. It was an exhilarating feeling coming in with our hands up in the air to that song.

Another integral part of the day is the wedding dress! Tell us about what you chose to wear. Did you follow the old English saying "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue"?

I wore a custom made Indian bridal lengha made in India for our wedding ceremony with a non-traditional color of orange instead of red. Ash also had a custom made Indian suit made to incorporate my orange color. For the wedding reception I wore a western wedding gown full of lace and Swarovski crystals. Ash also had custom made suits made for all our events. We incorporated a blue garter and I had blue roses in my bouquet.

What was the first song you danced to as newlyweds?

Our first song we danced to was John Legend, “You and I (Nobody In The World)" and it literally felt like it was just the two of us in the room at that moment.

Now that you are married and have had time to reflect on your wedding day, what was your favorite moment?

Our favorite moment was at the end of the night when the dancing started and we could officially enjoy ourselves. The wedding ceremony was also beautiful for me.

Vendors & Service Providers:

We had a couple entertainers that were fabulous, break-dancers – Now or Never Crew and Blink Acro. Tim from Real Silks did a great job on the decorations. Decibel Entertainment kept us dancing all night long. AAA Movies also did an excellent job with a one day edit of our wedding https://vimeo.com/146734421
