Fairmont Wedding at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

“It was magical.”

Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?

When my husband and I were deciding on a venue, he said he knew just the place. He wouldn't tell me where or what it was but he said knowing me, it would be perfect. Dayne is originally from ON, Canada and Quebec City is his favourite part of Canada.

Where did you have your ceremony?

We had our ceremony in Petite Frontenac with a view of the Saint Laurence.

Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?

We decided to go traditional with the flowers I was carrying as well as my bridesmaids with white peonies and some purple roses. For the ceremony space and centerpieces we had orchids on branches to have a high layout. A mix of traditional and contemporary.

Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?

Our meal started with Hors D'oeurves in the Governors Ballroom such as truffle oil risotto with coarse salt roasted scallops smoked salmon tartlet with goats cheese Tian of tomatoes, pesto and bocconini and Smoked lamb carpaccio with mustard and Parmesan.
For the reception the four course meal started with Halibut wellington, followed by a seafood chowder (the Chateau's signature soup followed by either a Rump steak with mashed potatoes and a red wine sauce or a confit duck with vegetables with sweet potato mash and vegetables.
Our cake was served as dessert which was a three tiered cakes with our wedding flowers as decorations and the flavour was Tiramisu.

What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely ‘yours’?

An element that we added to the wedding was feathers. My wedding dress had beautiful feathers around the bust area. The groom, groomsman and the fathers of the bride and groom also had feather boutineers to match the dress. We also had a prop photo-booth that was a major hit on the night.

Another integral part of the day is the wedding dress! Tell us about what you chose to wear.

My wedding dress was a pronivas dress. A-line shape with a sweetheart neck line. Beautiful feathers around the bust. Completely different to what I expected I would like. I had something blue, new, borrowed and old. It was beautiful.

What was the first song you danced to as newlyweds?

Our first song was to my husbands favourite song, "I'll Love you till the End" by The Pogues. We picked it because it has beautiful love lyrics.

Now that you are married and have had time to reflect on your wedding day, what was your favorite moment?

Our favourite moment of our entire wedding was one just after dinner. I grabbed my husband and we went for a walk. just the two of us. It had been raining all day and it stopped for about 1 hour. We walked down the boardwalk next to the Chateau. As we were walking, a lone saxophone started playing Celine Dions "My Heart Will Go On" and we danced just the two of us. It was magical.
